Hong Kong Women vs CCP Dictatorship
The Committee for Freedom in Hong Kong (CFHK) Foundation is delighted to invite you to attend an online panel event on March 4 for International Women’s Day: Hong Kong Women vs CCP Dictatorship.
March 4, 2025
10:00 am (Washington DC)
3:00 PM (London)
11:00 PM (Hong Kong)
For the first time, all five of the courageous women subjected to outrageous HK$1 million bounties by Hong Kong’s National Security Police are uniting to share their experiences fighting Chinese Communist Party (CCP) repression in Hong Kong and overseas.
Moderator Shibani Mahtani will be joined by:
Joey Siu, World Liberty Congress
Chloe Cheung, CFHK Foundation
Anna Kwok, HKDC
Carmen Lau, HKDC
Frances Hui, CFHK Foundation

CFHK Foundation staffers Chloe Cheung and Frances Hui, Anna Kwok and Carmen Lau of Hong Kong Democracy Council, and Joey Siu of World Liberty Congress have all suffered from CCP transnational repression – surveillance, harassment, and threats to name just three examples of what this entails. As women, the transnational repression they face is often misogynistic, too, making their experiences of this vile form of intimidation especially acute.
On March 4, we will explore the resilience of Anna, Carmen, Chloe, Frances, and Joey as they continue to fight against the CCP and speak out for silenced democrats unjustly imprisoned in Hong Kong – not to mention the millions of Hong Kongers who would resist repression if not for the threat of detention under the city’s draconian National Security Law. We will also ask how democracies can better protect against transnational repression in all its forms.
Washington Post journalist Shibani Mahtani, co-author of “Among the Braves,” a gripping narrative history of the Hong Kong pro-democracy movement, will moderate the panel, which will be broadcast live on the CFHK Foundation YouTube Channel.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions ahead of the event and we encourage CFHK Foundation subscribers to submit them to us beforehand via media@thecfhk.org.
