Since 2019, the ongoing national security crackdown in Hong Kong has resulted in the imprisonment of more than 1,900 political prisoners, aged 13 to 76. The CFHK Foundation campaigns for all political prisoners in Hong Kong to be freed. Hong Kong’s prisoners embody the loss of freedom suffered by the city itself.

Jimmy Lai

Jimmy Lai is one of the world’s most famous political prisoners and an iconic symbol of the Chinese Communist Party’s crackdown on Hong Kong’s freedoms due to his activism and the role his publications played in supporting the pro-democracy movement.

Press Freedom

The Committee for Freedom in Hong Kong Foundation supports press freedom in Hong Kong and policies that protect journalists and media from censorship.

Foreign Judges

We campaign to pressure all overseas non-permanent judges to resign from the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal as their presence lends prestige to persecution.

Illicit Hong Kong

We campaign for policy action to counter Hong Kong’s rise as a global hub for sanctions evasion and illicit trade with Iran, North Korea, and Russia.

Sanctions

We campaign for the U.S. and international actors to sanction the Chinese and Hong Kong officials and institutions responsible for the persecution of democrats and the dismantling of Hong Kong’s rule of law.

Transnational Repression

The CCP deploys tactics of transnational repression to silent dissent and threaten freedom of expression worldwide. We campaign to shine a light on these sophisticated campaigns and ensure the international community holds the CCP accountable for their acts of abuse overseas.

HKETOs

We campaign to ensure that all the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices (HKETOs) outside of China have their diplomatic privileges revoked and their offices shuttered.

Religious Freedom

We campaign to ensure that the assault on Hong Kong’s religious freedoms is more widely understood and for groups of all faiths to support freedom of religion in Hong Kong.
